Groupe PSA and Inria create an OpenLab dedicated to artificial intelligence - Automotive World

#artificialintelligence

Groupe PSA and Inria today announced the creation of an OpenLab dedicated to artificial intelligence. The studied areas will include autonomous and intelligent vehicles, mobility services, manufacturing, design development tools, the design itslelf and digital marketing as well as quality and finance. "Artificial intelligence will quickly become an efficiency factor for the group. The OpenLab will work on artificial intelligence algorithms enabling autonomous vehicles to drive in complex environments for example. It will also work on predictive maintenance, powertrain design optimisation and the modelling of complex systems such as cities, to offer mobility services adapted to people's needs" said Carla Gohin, Groupe PSA's Vice President for Research and Advanced Engineering. Inria's project teams will participate in this OpenLab bringing their high-level algorithmic expertise as part of a fruitful dialogue with Groupe PSA's experts on all the identified topics.

NuTonomy, Groupe PSA to Collaborate on Self-Driving Cars

U.S. News

Self-driving software company nuTonomy is teaming up with French automaker Groupe PSA. Boston-based nuTonomy says it plans to install its software and specialized sensors into two Peugeot 3008 SUVs this summer. It will begin testing them on public roads in Singapore in September. The companies plan to expand that test fleet to about a dozen vehicles by the beginning of 2018. Eventually, nuTonomy and Groupe PSA say they could expand testing to other cities worldwide.

Groupe PSA, NuTonomy team to test fully automated Peugeot 3008s

PCWorld

NuTonomy, a developer of software for self-driving cars, has teamed with Groupe PSA to integrate its software, along with sensors and computing platforms, into fully autonomous Peugeot 3008 sport utility vehicles that have been customized by the French car maker for the purpose. The startup, which is conducting public trials of a self-driving car service in Singapore, and is also testing its autonomous vehicles on public roads in Boston, said that on-road testing of self-driving 3008s is expected to start in Singapore in September. The tests may be extended to other key cities. NuTonomy, a startup set up by two former MIT experts in the areas of robotics and intelligent vehicle technology, started offering rides in its self-driving taxis to select people in Singapore in August last year, under an agreement with Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA). The tie-up between NuTonomy and PSA Group appears to be similar to that between Waymo, a unit of Google's parent Alphabet, which started integrating its autonomous technology with vehicles from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles last year.
